Start, Stop, Keep
Each year our club does Start, Stop, Keep to find out what our members would like to see from our club. Tell the President ideas you would like to see our club START doing. Share things you feel our club should STOP doing. Let Cynthia know what you would like to see our club KEEP doing.
There will be opportunities at each meeting to submit your ideas for Start, Stop, Keep with paper, or you can submit via the below Google Form.
Members who have a positive Rotary experience are more likely to stay. In turn, they create a positive Rotary experience for others, because their enthusiasm is contagious. Your experience includes not just your club meetings and other activities, but also the connections you've made and your pride in Rotary's work. Take a few minutes to share your club experience with Cynthia.
Last week Dr Meachum (Meach) joined us to teach us about the Hip Hop Literacy Program which started initially as a celebration of African American Culture that was the brainchild of UNI Professor Al Hays. Meach took us through the program's humble beginnings at Mt Carmel Baptist Church, it's collaboration with Waterloo Public Schools and Cunningham Elementary, all the way to their opportunity to perform in China at an International Festival! Students in the program get to be part of an expansive learning culture that includes creating beats, writing "bars" (lyrics), and recording in a professional studio. They are also broadcast on the Young Artist's Radio Network and are exposed to additional learning opportunities through the Waterloo Career Center. We thank Meach for getting us all "rapped" up in his presentation and for helping to provide this amazing program to students in our community!
Rotary is not just a club you join. It is an invitation to endless opportunities. It opens opportunities to serve in a project as big and historic as End Polio Now and also in a small community project, where you just plant a tree. It opens opportunities for you to live a richer, more meaningful life, with friends around the world, based on our core values. Everything we do opens another opportunity for someone, somewhere.
The 2020-2021 theme is: Rotary Opens Opportunities.
