What you missed last week:
Latanya Graves spoke to us, from the local chapter of the NAACP. The NAACP or National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was started by a group of interracial activists in 1909 with a goal of ensuring the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination. Latanya shared how the NAACP continues to work towards eliminating systemic racism in all its forms including mass incarceration, police brutality, and misrepresentation in the media, through education and community involvement. She hopes that White and Black activists will work together to stand up and fight for equal treatment for all.
