August Service Project

Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity ReStore

This month we are working with Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity. We will be working at the ReStore on August 29.  There are 2 shifts available, and we need 5 Rotarians to work each shift.  We will be doing projects such as:

  • Donation intake
  • Stocking the sales floor
  • Assisting customers

If you are available to volunteer, lease have sign up by using the link below.  This will also serve as the volunteer waiver.

The ReStore is located at 4107 Hammond Avenue in Waterloo.  Volunteers should enter through the back door facing Home Depot at the beginning of their shift. Volunteers can wear jeans or slacks, a t-shirt and tennis shoes.

Volunteers should complete this self-assessment prior to volunteering with Habitat for Humanity:

Do you have a runny nose, cough or sore throat?
Do you have a fever of 100.4 or above?

If you have answered yes to either of these questions please refrain from volunteering for a minimum of 14 days or until you have been tested for COVID-19 and have a negative test result.

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is currently following these COVID-19 volunteer guidelines:

Ensure social distancing measures are taken:
Enforce distance created by tape at cashier stations and other areas.
Restricts number of individuals in break room as needed.

Implement increased hygiene practices:
Hands must be washed with soap and warm water for a minimum of 20 seconds or approved hand sanitizer used between donor and customer interactions.
All donations received must be sanitized.
Restrooms and water fountains closed.
Barrier used at cash register stations.

All staff and volunteers must wear masks when interacting with the public.
