The board is keeping an eye on all that is happening with
COVID-19 and will make adjustments to the meetings as needed.

The board met on 11/4/20 to re-evaluate our meeting format and the rising numbers.  It was decided by vote to continue with hybrid meetings.  A separate newsletter, social media post, and text message will go out to let you know of any changes.

The board would like to provide a socially distanced, and safe option for those members who feel comfortable joining in person, as well as providing an option for members who prefer a virtual option.  Please make the best decision for yourself - the board wants everyone to feel comfortable and be included in the meetings!  Things will be re-evaluated for our December meetings.

The November board meeting will be held following the regular meeting 11/18/20.
The holidays are approaching...that means groceries and gas!  Don't forget to save your HyVee receipts to help Orchard Hill Elementary.
Keegan Birkicht joined us from Retrieving Freedom . Retrieving Freedom is an organization that started in 2011 and so far has placed over 100 dogs into service to help Veterans and children with autism. They do very complete health checks and have a breeding program to make sure the dogs are able to stay healthy and continue to help their owners, in addition to making sure their owners are taught how to train their dogs.  The dogs support social and emotional health and provide unconditional love. Some of the things they can do to help Veterans include helping with creating personal space, help look out for what is behind them, disruption of PTSD episodes and nightmares, help them with retrieving items, and help them with standing. For children with Autism they can help them socially , help with anxiety, help them find appropriate ways to get attention, help with communication , and help with behavioral issues like running off and inability to sleep. Another thing about the organization is that they work with Assistance Dogs International to reimburse expenses for Veterans associated with their dogs, including travel to claim their dogs. We thank Keegan for joining us with such a perfect presentation for Veteran's Day and hope to see the dogs in action some day!

Rotary Opens Opportunities
Rotary is not just a club you join. It is an invitation to endless opportunities. It opens opportunities to serve in a project as big and historic as End Polio Now and also in a small community project, where you just plant a tree. It opens opportunities for you to live a richer, more meaningful life, with friends around the world, based on our core values. Everything we do opens another opportunity for someone, somewhere.
The 2020-2021 theme is: Rotary Opens Opportunities.
